The Atlantic Council GeoTech Center launched right before COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic.

Since then, the Center has focused on how tech and data can both improve crisis response and help with the long-term recovery around the world. True to the mission of “good tech choices,” the data-driven analyses and informative virtual roundtables hosted by the GeoTech Center focus on championing positive paths forward.

Specifically, on 11 March 2020 the Atlantic Council GeoTech Center officially launched with the focused mission of: Championing positive paths forward that nations, economies, and societies can pursue to ensure new technologies and data empower people, prosperity, and peace.

That same day, COVID-19 was declared an official pandemic. Since then the Center has focused on connecting tech and data efforts across sectors and across nations to ensure we emerge from the pandemic stronger post-COVID-19 together. Please view our video recaps. Read our analyses. Glean insights on how tech, data, and leadership can ensure the world gets through the pandemic and we build a better post-COVID-19 world together.

The work of the GeoTech Center is focused on bridging industry and governmental efforts across sectors and nations in six key areas. These include three vertical pillars essential for open societies:

  • Future of Data and Artificial Intelligence
  • Future of Sensemaking and Choice, Diversity, and Participation
  • Future of Trust and Next-Generation Supply Chains

And three horizontal pillars essential to a positive global future ahead:

  • Future of Work and Augmenting Human Activities
  • Future of Space and Commercialization of Space Activities
  • Future of Health and Biotechnology Endeavors

We’re now excited to also announce that weekly, every Wednesday (aside from holidays) from 12–1pm Eastern, we will airing The GeoTech Hour to discuss these issues with experts from around the world. We already are four episodes in, including:

1. Western society at the crossroads, part I: Data, people, and tech — Atlantic Council

2. Western society at the crossroads, part II: Smart partnerships in a changing world — Atlantic Council

3. Global supply chains disrupted: Additive manufacturing, onshoring, and COVID-19 — Atlantic Council

4. Space economics: Building sustainable space infrastructure — Atlantic Council

Our next event this Wednesday 07 October from 12–1pm Eastern is: Accelerating COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccine distribution strategies

Hope you can join us, or if it works better for your schedule both watch and reshare the replay afterwards!
